Gheorghe Caminschi

Gheorghe has been with BasementRemodeling.com since 2013. In that time, he's managed hundreds of basement remodels across the DMV — running 10 to 15 projects at once, staying on-site, and making sure every homeowner always knows where things stand.

He doesn't manage from a distance. He shows up.

Before the Blueprints

Gheorghe is originally from Moldova and came to the United States in 2012 on a work visa. Before construction, he spent years in customer-facing roles — managing stores, running a bakery, overseeing a bed-and-breakfast hotel. He's always worked with people. That foundation in hospitality, operations, and business administration turned out to be exactly the right preparation for project management.

He holds a contractor's license, a PMP (Project Management Professional) certification, and has completed sales training. He speaks English and Romanian fluently, with conversational Russian and French, which comes in handy on a team and client base as diverse as the DMV.

Gheorghe has been building his expertise in this trade for 14 years. There isn't much he hasn't seen.

What Running 15 Projects at Once Actually Looks Like

On any given day, Gheorghe is managing between 10 and 15 active basement remodels simultaneously. That means walking job sites, coordinating the sequence of trades — framing, plumbing, electrical, drywall, flooring, painting, countertops, and sometimes design details — keeping subs on schedule, and staying in constant communication with homeowners from the first walkthrough to the final punch list.

He works closely with the design, billing, and logistics teams to keep everything aligned. And when something goes sideways on-site — which, in construction, it will — Gheorghe is already there to sort it out on the spot.

What he's known for is clear, direct communication. "I don't sugarcoat problems. I tell people what's going on and what we're doing about it." Teammates come to him when a project hits a snag because he can make the call fast, and he always does.

What Homeowners Can Expect

Gheorghe is straightforward about what working with him looks like: "For most people, their home is their biggest asset — and when you work with me, it's in good hands. No matter what comes up during the project, it'll be handled with respect, and the house will be better for it by the time we're done."

Homeowners get straight answers, fast responses, and a project manager who is actually present on the job — not someone they only hear from over email. If something changes or goes wrong, Gheorghe tells them right away and walks them through the fix.

What he's most proud of in his work isn't any single project — it's the consistency of the relationships he's built. From the first conversation to the final walkthrough, he finds common ground with people from every background, age, and nationality. Empathy and fairness are at the center of how he manages.

A Moment That Stayed With Him

One period stands out above the rest. During COVID, when finishing basements was both more complicated and more meaningful than ever, Gheorghe and the team pushed through — navigating every requirement, every restriction, and every challenge that came with that time.

After completing some of the first basements during the pandemic, he started receiving pictures from clients — their kids playing in the newly finished space, happy, with somewhere to be while the rest of the world felt uncertain. "For a lot of them, it was the one place their kids could really just be kids."

He still has those pictures and messages. "That kind of feedback is the most honest and sincere kind there is — turning a space that used to just be storage under the house into something a family actually needed."

Beyond the Job Site

Outside of work, Gheorghe is happiest with family and friends — camping, visiting new places, and celebrating the people he cares about. He's an avid reader and podcast listener, always learning something new.

That curiosity extends to his professional life too. He believes the best project managers aren't made by certifications — they're made by experience, and by staying open to new tools, including AI and automation, that make the work better.

His philosophy is simple, and he lives by it every day:

> "Take ownership. Solve problems. Finish strong. Leave every client with confidence in the work we delivered."

At the end of the day, if someone slept a little better because of a job Gheorghe did, that's success.
