For over twelve years, BasementRemodeling.com has been successfully renovating commercial and residential basements. Many of our residential basement remodeling projects in Maryland, Washington DC, and Virginia have included spaces shared by house pets. We care about everyone in your home, so here’s what you can do to keep your pets safe during a basement finishing and remodeling project.
The best advice we have is to treat the basement remodeling area the same as a construction site. That is to say, no pets. Keeping the pet away from the basement remodeling will ensure the animal’s safety.
Pets can always be confined using interior doors. If you have an anxious pet that doesn’t like being confined to one space, then a baby gate can keep them from feeling too closed off. Always include their favorite toys, food, water, bedding, and maybe a clothing article or two with your scent on it.
If your dog has extremely high levels of anxiety, then taking them to another home that they are familiar with could be an option. Babysitters and even kennels can solve the problem as well.
